When a group of people travel to be part of a tour, it can be advantageous to consider purchasing air travel through the Group Air department of an airline. Unlike individual tickets whose prices change day-to-day and increase as cabins fill up, Group Air fixes the price on a set of seats. Group Air also allows for the bulk of the ticket cost to be paid closer to departure and cancellation in the event something unusual occurs between the reservation and payment of the ticket. Group Air does require at least 7 people travel on the same itinerary when purchasing business class seats. We are focusing on this fare class because many of our travelers have chosen this class in the past and prices for it can fluctuate significantly.

Because the most desirable flights our group needs to get to and from Italy are limited, Baird Tours entered into a contract with American Airlines to hold seats on 2 separate itineraries. We are only able to purchase Group Air for the flights flown on AA flights which means we can only purchase flights to/from Rome and Barcelona. We picked these cities because each has non-stop flights to Palermo and Catania which we will purchase separately. In both cases the combined cost of both tickets is much less than the cost of the same itinerary purchased individually from the AA web site.

Below you will find 2 Group Air options. Please contact us if you are interested in either of these options. We can only hold these reservations for a few weeks and we will allocate them on a first-come first-served basis.

After the Group Air options you will find some Individual Air itineraries with attractive fares in our research. The best Business Class value we found is from Turkish Airlines. If you haven’t traveled with Turkish Airlines recently we recommend them for service and the new airport in Istanbul where you will change planes. We fly with them frequently. You are welcome to book any of these flights on your own.
